Lea Michele has been cast in Beanie Feldstein's place after it was revealed that she would leave the Broadway revival of Funny Girl two months early.
Fanny Brice will be played by Michele, who previously appeared in Spring Awakening with the original ensemble.
Additionally, it was revealed that Tovah Feldshuh, a Walking Dead actress and Tony contender, will take the role of Jane Lynch, Michele's former Glee co-star, as Mrs. Brice.
Feldstein and Lynch will both be departing the play early as a result, despite the fact that it had been originally stated that she would be on stage through September 25.
While many devoted fans had hoped she would be chosen for the production when the revival was first announced last year, the announcement of Michele in the part comes as a surprise.
The August Wilson Theatre is presently staging a performance of Funny Girl.
Funny Girl appeared on Broadway for the first play in 58 years because to Feldstein's depiction of the role.
Barbra Streisand performed the part for the first time in 1964.
