Emmy-nominated "Hill Street Blues" star Taurean Blacque passes away at age 82

Taurean Blacque passed away at 82. He was most recognised for his work on Hill Street Blues. 

Following a brief illness, Blacque passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday.

Born Herbert Middleton Jr., Blacque started his acting career on stage at the New Federal Theatre in New York City.

He made his debut in television, landing parts in well-known series including Taxi, Good Times, The Bob Newhart Show, What's Happening, Sanford and Son, and many more.

He received two Emmy nominations for Hill Street Blues when he was a cast member of the programme.

Blacque was the adoptive parent of 11 more kids in addition to his two biological sons.

His family includes 12 children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren
