Jamie Spears, the father of pop singer Britney Spears, has been ordered to appear in court for a deposition in Los Angeles, and the singer's lawyer is protesting the decision.

"Today is a very good day in court for Britney Spears and it was a very good day for justice generally," Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, said to reporters

Judge Brenda Penny mandated on Wednesday that Jamie set up his deposition by August 12.

In addition, Rosengart said, "the court ordered him to deliver all of the records that we've asked, which he has also failed to do."

His daughter is now happily married, and free to pursue her dreams, according to Rosengart.

If Mr. Spears truly loves his daughter as he claims, he should let her be and go on with his life rather than continuing to sue his own daughter.

After hiding and running for nine months, her father has now been given the go-ahead to appear in court and show the necessary paperwork.

In September 2021, Britney's father was relieved of his conservatorship over her estate. Two months later, her conservatorship was lifted.
